Costco HVAC Pros And Cons

Lennox HVAC systems sold by Costco have many advantages. But, they also have a few potential drawbacks you should consider to determine whether the brand suits your needs and budget.

Benefits of Costco’s HVAC

Here’s why Lennox HVAC systems can be a great choice for your household:

Versatility

One of the best things about Lennox HVAC systems is their versatility.

The units are divided into three tiers, so you can easily choose the one that matches your needs and budget.

Tradition

Lennox was founded in 1895 when Dave Lennox introduced the first riveted steel furnace to the market.

Since then, the company has built a reputation for offering some of the highest-quality HVAC systems with excellent performance ratings.

Lennox makes energy efficiency a priority, especially now when millions of people are doing everything they can to protect the environment.

Many of the company’s HVAC systems feature an Energy Star rating, which is another proof of its efforts.

Therefore, if you want to purchase an HVAC unit from a reputable company with a long tradition and environmental awareness, Lennox is the way to go.

Innovation

One of the worst enemies of HVAC systems is corrosion.

Whether it’s a consequence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or salt air, corrosion can cause numerous issues and cause different components to malfunction.

Lennox recognized this issue and wanted to create HVAC systems with exceptional durability and low risk of corrosion.

The company patented Lennox Quantum Coils that offer resistance, strength, and exceptional performance.

Moreover, Lennox is always working on new inventions and features that could improve their units and ensure customers have the best experience.

Disadvantages of Costco’s HVAC

Here are a few potential drawbacks of Lennox HVAC systems:

Price

One of the biggest disadvantages of Lennox HVAC systems is their price.

Even the most affordable Lennox units are still much more expensive than similar units manufactured by competitors.

While the high price can be an immediate deal-breaker for some homeowners, others agree Lennox units are worth it.

They can last decades without breaking down and offer high energy efficiency.

Pro Tip: Costco often has great deals on Lennox HVAC systems, where you can receive an excellent discount or a Costco gift card. You can always ask Costco employees if they have information about the next deal.

Warranty

All Lennox units come with a warranty.

However, the warranties’ lengths vary depending on the tier to which a specific unit belongs.

Lennox also offers an extended warranty.

If you want it, you’ll need to register your HVAC system online and confirm a licensed contractor installed it.

But, you should know that an extended warranty isn’t available for every Lennox HVAC unit.

Costco HVAC Reviews

One of the best ways to determine whether Costco HVAC units are the right option is to read online reviews.

“I was wary of purchasing an HVAC through a big-box store like Costco. But, our previous HVAC system was 19 years old and started to malfunction, so we had to make a decision about a new one ASAP. Since we have the membership and Costco had a great deal on Lennox HVACs, we chose a unit from the Elite series, and we couldn’t be happier. First, we liked the entire process; scheduling a consultation and installation was a breeze. The Lennox consultant who came to our house was punctual, polite, and professional. He answered all our questions (and there were a lot of them) and helped us choose the best model for our needs. The system is working perfectly and allows us to enjoy optimal temperature year-round.”

– Martha

“I scheduled an in-home consultation with a Lennox representative through Costco, and the person never showed up. Since I was already hesitant about purchasing a new HVAC through Costco, I figured this was my sign to give up on that idea. But, the representative reached out, apologized for not showing up, and asked whether I’d like to schedule a new appointment. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I agreed. The representative came and inspected my house in detail. I loved that he took his time to ask questions about my expectations instead of trying to upsell an expensive unit. Ultimately, I decided to purchase a Lennox unit from the Merit series because I believe it offers great value. I’ve only had it for a few months now, but everything seems to be working perfectly.”

– Leo

“Yes, Lennox HVAC units are notorious for having a higher price than the competition. But, believe me, they’re worth it. I’ve had a Lennox HVAC in my old house and had no problems with it, so I installed one in my new house as well. I wasn’t disappointed; the unit is functioning perfectly. You can see it’s made of premium materials. If you want high quality and peace of mind, Lennox is the way to go.”

– Chandler

“When it was time for us to replace our old HVAC, I spent weeks researching different brands and models. After all, it’s not every day that you buy a new HVAC, and I didn’t want to waste my money on something that would break down in a year or two. The choice came down to Lennox and Rheem, and I decided on the former. While it did cost us more, the Lennox unit I purchased has great performances and reviews. Besides, a few of my neighbors have it, and they love it. The entire process was quick and smooth, from scheduling a consultation with a Lennox representative to installing the system.”

– Nichole

“Are Lennox units expensive? Yes. Are they worth it? Also yes. You may pay more initially, but you can be 100% sure the unit will last a long time. I’ve had several Lennox HVAC systems, and all of them were durable and efficient. Yes, minor issues will happen after some time, but major failures are very rare. As far as I’m concerned, Lennox is the only brand worth my trust.”

– Jenna

Pro Tip: Besides checking online reviews, you can always ask your family members and friends for recommendations regarding HVAC systems. Their experiences can help you find the perfect unit for your household.

Costco vs Home Depot HVAC

Besides Costco, Home Depot is also a great place to purchase an HVAC system.

You may be surprised to learn that Home Depot also carries Lennox HVAC systems, but the options are limited.

So, if you want a choice of Lennox HVACs, Costco is a better option.

However, if you want to explore various brands, Home Depot is the way to go.

The company sells a wide range of HVAC systems from different manufacturers, so you’re not limited to only one brand.

Another important factor is customer service.

Many homeowners agree that Costco has better customer service.

The employees are happy to help, knowledgeable, and can ensure you get a product that matches your needs.

All in all, both Costco and Home Depot are excellent places for purchasing an HVAC system.

Which one you’ll choose depends on your preferences, budget, and requirements.

What Is The Best Month To Buy HVAC System At Costco?

The best times to purchase an HVAC system at Costco are early spring (late February until late March) and early fall (September).

You can often get better prices because the demand isn’t as high as during the summer or winter.

How Does Costco HVAC Work?

If you want to purchase an HVAC from Costco, you may wonder how the process looks.

All you need to do is go to Costco’s website and schedule an in-home consultation.

A Costco employee will then arrange the consultation with a Lennox representative, who will come to your house to learn about your needs and budget.

Then, you decide which unit you’d like to purchase and how you’d like to pay.

Costco will then reach out to one of its licensed contractors in your area and schedule the installation.

I purchased my Lennox HVAC system through Costco at Savi Ranch CA. The contractor didn’t supply a system to adequately Cool or Heat our home. Every year something goes wrong with the unit and the contractor ALWAYS has a reason why it’s not there fault and wont cover it. THIS IS THE ONE AND LAST TIME I GO THROUGH COSTCO!!!!! They do not back the contractors they push!!!!
